The Big "Y" on Quitting Tobacco Smoking...

                                                 Smoking for fun, style, "treatment of depression", avoid boredom, to be socially accepted (in certain groups), etc etc.. People smoke tobacco for various reason. Most of them actually know the adverse affects of Tobacco which it cast not only to the person inhaling the smoke but also on his or her companions which are gifted for their company in a very ugly manner.
                                       As the title indicates , why someone who is enjoying the puffs of smoke and has not observed any apparent illness associated with smoking, should quit all of a sudden, his ecstasy habit...
 To answer that in a more "dummy friendly way"_ lets split the solution on the basis of adverse effects of Tobacco smoking.,.

#1-Health Effects:-

                                               The first and foremost important effects of smoking on any individual is on his/her health. Not noticeable apparently, harms of smoking can be thought as a "Silent killer" ( this name is actually a synonym of hypertension/increase in blood pressure, and is given to Smoking because of the way, how it affects Cardiovascular system)...... Following systems are affected directly or indirectly

                                      -->RESPIRATORY SYSTEM / Lungs

                                        The most marked effects of smoking can be appreciated on this organ, as a vital organ (without which we cant survive) lungs remain busy right from the start of birth till the end of life(just like heart) in inspiring and expiring air and providing us (our tissues and cells) with appropriate levels of oxygen..
                                      Normally, lungs retain their capacity to effectively eradicate any threat to its integrity (threat are in the form of pathogen, carcinogen, allergen etc), this protective mechanism is done by an anatomical structure, CILLIA, that is designed in a way to counter the foreign , potentially harmful,  objects..
smoking destroys these hair like structures making lung vulnerable to external mellieu..

                                 ->CARDIOVASCULAR System / Heart..

                                                       Cardiovascular and Respiratory systems operates in the vicinity of each other,, i.e they are highly integrated with each other , often depending upon each other performances for their individual chores.. Due to unknown reasons smoking enhances, chances of potentially harmful inflammatory diseases called ATHEROSCLEROSIS , resulting in "plaques" formation within vessels, which subsequently obstruct the blood flow and for a close circuit system like human's Cardiovascular system, any obstruction at any point will result in disturbance to overall blood flow.. this will affect Heart's performance which will lead to abnormal blood flow and subsequent abnormal oxygenation of peripheral organs like kidney, brain etc

                                                -->GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT / Gut / Stomach..

                                 There is chemical substance in Tobacco called NICOTINE which can act on certain receptors (competing with Acetylcholine) thus disturbing the normal physiology of GIT, including change in peristalsis, absorbtive functions, etc..... enhancing the discomfort and "Malaise" like feeling ( feeling of being ill)..

                                       --> MUSCULOSKELETAL System / Muscles..

                                                 Nicotine, as written before, act on certain receptors, tempering with muscular activity... Tremors and cold sweats can be regarded to the Nicotine..

                                   --> CENTRAL NERVOUS System / Brain..

                                                              Very Important organ to humans and a Wonder of nature, this divine gift has always mesmerized me with the mystery between its anatomy (structure) and physiology (function)..... this organ actually face the music as the addiction part of this ''habit'' is appreciated by the brain.. acting on various receptors, cigarette gives a sense of Euphoria ( feeling of happiness ), so whenever any individual lights a cigarette he/ she will feel good, but as soon their nicotine levels fall down they will again sense an urge of smoking again.. thats how this habit multiplies itself in the form of addiction.. also due the formation of ''Carboxy hemoglobin'' (by the carbon monoxide in cigarette) causing Carbon monoxide poisoning and subsequent dampening one cognitive functions also imparting toxic effects on neurons ( as they are very sensitive about the oxygen levels they receive through blood ).....
  So Addiction is nothing ,, its just a few chemicals in brain screwing up the normal chemistry of brain... :-)

                                      ---> GENERAL BENEFITS AFTER QUITTING CIGARETTE SMOKING,.,

20 minutes after quitting
Your heart rate and blood pressure drop.
    (Effect of smoking on arterial stiffness and pulse pressure amplification, Mahmud A, Feely J. Hypertension. 2003:41:183)
12 hours after quitting
The carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal.
    (US Surgeon General’s Report, 1988, p. 202)
2 weeks to 3 months after quitting
Your circulation improves and your lung function increases.
    (US Surgeon General’s Report, 1990, pp.193, 194,196, 285, 323)
1 to 9 months after quitting
Coughing and shortness of breath decrease; cilia (tiny hair-like structures that move mucus out of the lungs) start to regain normal function in the lungs, increasing the ability to handle mucus, clean the lungs, and reduce the risk of infection.
    (US Surgeon General’s Report, 1990, pp. 285-287, 304)
1 year after quitting
The excess risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a continuing smoker’s.
    (US Surgeon General’s Report, 2010, p. 359)
5 years after quitting
Risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, and bladder are cut in half. Cervical cancer risk falls to that of a non-smoker. Stroke risk can fall to that of a non-smoker after 2-5 years.
    (A Report of the Surgeon General: How Tobacco Smoke Causes Disease - The Biology and Behavioral Basis for Smoking-Attributable Disease Fact Sheet, 2010; and Tobacco Control: Reversal of Risk After Quitting Smoking. IARC Handbooks of Cancer Prevention, Vol. 11. 2007, p 341)
10 years after quitting
The risk of dying from lung cancer is about half that of a person who is still smoking. The risk of cancer of the larynx (voice box) and pancreas decreases.
    (A Report of the Surgeon General: How Tobacco Smoke Causes Disease - The Biology and Behavioral Basis for Smoking-Attributable Disease Fact Sheet, 2010; and US Surgeon General’s Report, 1990, pp. vi, 155, 165)
15 years after quitting
The risk of coronary heart disease is that of a non-smoker’s.
    (Tobacco Control: Reversal of Risk After Quitting Smoking. IARC Handbooks of Cancer Prevention, Vol. 11. 2007. p 11)
These are just a few of the benefits of quitting smoking for good. Quitting smoking lowers the risk of diabetes, lets blood vessels work better, and helps the heart and lungs. Quitting while you are younger will reduce your health risks more, but quitting at any age can give back years of life that would be lost by continuing to smoke.

 #2. FINANCIAL PROBLEMS

This habits has many demerits, one of which is the economical wastage.. Its really a troll on ones pocket,, consider this ,, suppose a person spends 100 PkR for 20 cigarette.,. and he smokes 10 per day, this means he has to spend 100 PkR  every third day , this makes 400 per week 1600 PkR per month,, 19200PkR per year................... This is just an example which depicts the unfortunate loss of money on a poison which can't just kill you but also will be the cause of death of your beloved ones which enjoys your company not knowing what is coming up for them...

#3-SOCIAL PROBLEMS

                                                  Pretty common to notice it is regarded as a social evil, not consider a healthy activity all across the glob.. so this habit can restrict your ''circles'' , leading to psychological stigma..

                                                                 This list can be stretched to great lengths but to make my point the above given description is more than enough to sparkle a thought in reader's mind,,,, why am i smoking despite its obvious harms..........

                             Apparently there is nothing wrong about sticking up to this habit, but the smoke is eating internally not just poisoning you directly but also making you vulnerable to other diseases,, without you realizing , you are committing suicide

        Just by knowing the harmfull chemicals and their nature one can easily appreciate why it is so important not to smoke...

 with all above description ,, any logical mind can understand the severity of harmfulness of this ridiculous habit, which is not just bad for oneself  but for the others around, which deserve  a lot better then this.....

So ,, SAY NO TO THIS SELF DESTROYING HABIT.....
