Superstitions holds its ground from a very long time, in the history of some of the primitive cultures of human being. Although human beings have embraced 21 century, but certain aspects of nature are still far away from human understandings, this leads to a sense of uncertainty - thus - uncomfortableness. Human nature, to explain each and every happenings around, bend these uncertainty into quite ridiculous beliefs.
Islamic republic of Pakistan, although an Islamic state, came into being by "fungus like fission" of Subcontinent, So, Pakistan share deep cultural ties with India and Indian culture. Like most of the other cultural aspects, Pakistan inherited a lot of beliefs, rituals and superstitions from Indian culture.. Not only the rural part of the country are engulfed by this stupidity, urban area are no different. In Punjab and most of Sindh, one can easily distinguish the Indian taste of superstitions and occult rituals paractised in these parts of the country....
Some Superstitions.
Only to give an idea, some of the superstitions in Pakistan are listed as follows:-
1.SOLAR AND LUNAR ECLIPSE..
Children with congenital defects are buried in "Earth", neck deep, during an eclipse. The belief is that this might correct , the irreversible medical problem (most disturbing news is, this was paractised in Karachi at Clifton beach during a Solar eclipse...

2. EVIL EYE..
People , mostly children, have to put a black dot of eyeliner or something else to prevent evil eye.... Else it will bring 'bad luck' to the person..
3. CROWS..
Crows like cats have a special place in superstitions, it is said that when the crow caws outside the house, there will be guest expected.
4. SWEEPING OR CLEANING AFTER EVENING INSIDE HOME..
Sweeping or cleaning home after evening , Maghrib prayer , is considered "inauspicious".
5. INAUSPICIOUS TREES..
Some trees , especially PEEPAL and BARGAD, houses the spirit of dead and evil..
6. WIDOWS..
Without any logic of Islam, Widows in this society are considered unlucky, especially around pregnant or newly wed woman..
7. MIRRORS
Mirrors are considered to house spirits..
Breaking of mirror is considered very bad for one's luck..
8.CATS..
Most loveable creature of nature is considered Inauspicious , especially the black ones.. They are associated with witch craft and are considered as 'DOOR' between the two worlds.....
Not so cute now isn't it..
9.DONOT CALL AT BACK ..
If a person is leaving home, don't call him/her from his/her back as it could bring some terrifying news back to home...
10. DEAD BODY..
There is a belief that relatives of dead, shouldn't sleep in the same room, where the dead body of their beloved one is present...
11. MOANING AND CRYING OF CATS..
Cats although the most beloved animal of our holy prophet Muhammad S.A.W is considered bad luck, especially there 'cries' give CHILLS to the believers of superstitions..
12. MOTHER AND HER BABBY..
A mother should never turn her back towards her child .. as it could be a nightmare for both of them....
