Steps to Quit Smoking....

QUIT SMOKING ,,
                           OR DIE TRYING........

In the previous article, i tried pay heed on the adverse effects of (Tobacco) cigarette smoking.. In this Article i will try to depict some easy ways from which one can get benefit him/herself in his/her quest of quitting cigarette...............

#. KNOW ABOUT YOUR PROBLEM..
As discussed in my previous article,, what are the adverse effects of cigarette smoking.. you can consult internet, you can observe these effects on yourself (e.g bouts of cough, change of taste, gastrointestinal disturbances etc)

#. FIND A MOTIVATION..
Find a strong determination for eradicating this habit, the best way of doing this is to make a list about things that pushes you or makes you to give up this habit,, e.g your list may have - ''Iam terrified of getting cancer in my 50's or 60's'' , ''its a drag on my pocket'' , ''I feel embarrassed sitting in my friends or family''.....

Also acquire some facts about smoking this will subconsciously push you to "GIVE UP"..

#.CHOOSE A QUIT DATE..
Instead of making Birthday, New years, etc Resolve .. try to choose any specific date or day to begin with.. E.g lets say you will not be smoking on Sunday, then the next Sunday, and so on so forth... this will make your mind that, you are prohibiting yourself from smoking on this particular day of the week.. so even if you are smoking the rest of the week,, there is a no smoking day/week.. 4 no smoking days/ month.. and almost 48 no smoking days / year.. making this method, mathematically more ''attractive'' rather than making it a birthday resolve, which happens only once in a year....

 #. SURVIVE THE INITIAL WAVE..

Like all other addictions the initial days or the initial period of ''withdrawal'', ..Suit yourself with different methods like chewing gum, consuming sunflower seeds, (consult internet ).., consume coffee, tea, and other beverages to help in ''withdrawal phenomena'' and also aiding in the healing process for the catastrophe which was brought on by cigarette..

There are various other ways to distract yourself which will help you in getting over this habit , e.g run a lap whenever you have an urge of smoking, perform a set of pushups etc...

#. TELL YOURSELF A LIE..

That is a very interesting psychological method of eradicating this habit... Don't smoke for a month, while keep telling yourself that you will again start smoking after the end of this month. Once the ''smoke free month'' ends, ask yourself if i can quit for month , why should i pursue it again.... so, no smoking for the rest of the life...

#. MEDICATION..
Ask your physician to prescribe you some ''NRT'' (nicotine replacement therapy).. or any other ''OTC'' (over the counter ) drugs which will act as a replacement for the ''addictive nicotine''

#. REWARD YOURSELF..

Reward yourself for not smoking when you a suppress an urge of smoking by eating something sweat, watching something good, allowing yourself a free time from work etc... this "CONDITIONING'' will exponentially enhance your chances of quitting cigarette..

#. STAY AWAY FROM DISTRACTIONS..

Stay away from the places or areas where you smoke quite often or try to make yourself at times when you smoke during your daily routine.. Throw everything which reminds you of this habit..

#. MAKE IT MEMORABLE..
Include your friends and family and make a little ceremony of abandoning smoking, this will put some extra pressure on you whenever (in future ) you would think of smoking again...

#. DON'T BE HARD ON YOURSELF..

Even if you slip, don't give up continue your abandonment and think of the ''EXTRA LIFE'' you can enjoy with your beloved ones!
